Good news of any kind has been elusive in 2020, but looks like not anymore. India recorded lowest spike in daily Covid-19 infections in two months - 55,342. India also recorded less than 1000 deaths for over ten days in a row. So is the worst behind us? High frequency indicators show an uptick in economic recovery. International Monetary Fund predicts India to bounce back and its GDP to grow at 8.8% in 2021. In its latest 'World Economic Outlook' report, IMF predicts India to regain its position as the fastest-growing emerging economy in FY22. While presenting the monetary policy and sharing his economic outlook, RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das said he could see the silver lining and contraction in growth is behind us.
