Sona Mohapatra: The Bold And The Melodious

A troublemaker by choice and a singer, performer, lyricist and composer by profession, Sona Mohapatra hails from Odisha’s Cuttack. Whether it’s her opinions on the #MeToo movement in Bollywood or critiquing the ‘remix’ genre in the industry, Mohapatra has an unapologetic attitude and speaks her mind.

In 2011, Mohapatra along with her music composer-husband Ram Sampath, started OmGrown Music, a label that grew out of restlessness due to the lack of respect for original creations and artists. The duo has been creating cutting-edge music, changing the dynamics of the Indian music industry, one track at a time.

On her birthday, here’s taking a look at the singer’s musical journey.
