Neena Gupta, Actor and Television Director

Born in July 1959, Neena Gupta is one of the most revered actors in the Indian entertainment industry. With a Masters and M.Phil in Sanskrit, Neena began her career as an actor in 1982. She has had roles in several international films, hit commercial films, cult classics like Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro (1983), and in award-winning films like Woh Chokri (1994) and Badhai Ho (2018). Also a television actor and director, Neena has directed well-received shows like Saans (1999) and Siski (2000). Neena has been unabashed and fearless in her work, and, over the years, has defied the patriarchal notion that a 'woman's career in cinema and entertainment ends after a certain age'.
