Kasturba Gandhi: A Leader of True Grit

Kasturba Gandhi was a leader in the struggle for civil rights and independence from British rule in India. Born in 1869, Kasturba Gandhi was married at a tender age of 13 years to Mahatma Gandhi, the face of struggle for Independent India.

Keeping pace with Mahatma Gandhi’s commitment to freedom struggle, Kasturba first entered politics and social activism in South Africa. She showed immense tenacity as she fought beside her husband for social, economic and political equality for Indians in South Africa.
