Google Takes Down Paytm From Play Store | Vijay Shekhar Sharma Clears The Air | Startup Central

Google Play Store pulled down Paytm today for a couple of hours for allegedly violating its gambling policy. Paytm is India’s most valuable startup and competes with Google Pay. Here’s ET Now’s interview with Paytm Founder & CEO Vijay Shekhar Sharma on the move by Google, where he even went on to share Google’s e-mail on air. Not one to not speak his mind, Vijay Shekhar Sharma said he doesn’t even know how to comment on Google calling Paytm’s cashback scheme for cricket stickers as gambling. He went on to say no country should stand for this, and how this development shows India is “Google Bhar Bharat & not Aatmanirbhar Bharat”; and how the move by Google is a “monolithic abuse of power”. In the run-up to IPL2020, Paytm allowed users to collect stickers against transactions, collect them, and claim cash backs.
