India's top engineering and construction company Larsen & Toubro Ltd reported a higher than expected 27 percent rise in second quarter net profit, helped by a one-off gain from the sale of a subsidiary. Consolidated net profit rose to 18.2 billion rupees ($279.31 million) in the three months ended Sept. 30 from 14.35 billion rupees a year earlier, the company said in a statement on Saturday. Analysts on average had expected a net profit of 12.2 billion rupees, according to Thomson Reuters data.

Mumbai, May 29 (IANS) India based multinational corporation Larsen & Toubro on Monday reported an an exponential rise of 29.5 per cent in its consolidated net profit for the fourth quarter (Q4) of 2016-17. The Q4 consolidated gross revenue of the multinational engaged in technology, engineering, construction, manufacturing and financial services edged higher by 12 per cent to Rs 36,828 crore. The multinational's consolidated gross revenue during the fiscal under review was higher by eight per cent to Rs 110,011 crore.
