Restrictions imposed by Indian states to curb a rapid surge in coronavirus cases have disrupted supply chains, hit freight networks and caused labour shortages in the small companies that make up around a third of economic output, business owners said. India is recording hundreds of thousands of cases daily in its worst phase of the pandemic, forcing authorities in states such as Maharashtra, home to financial capital Mumbai, and New Delhi to take strict steps to control the spread of the virus. Maharashtra - which contributes 15% to the country's economy - shut most factories from Wednesday, while more than 10 states including Tamil Nadu, Punjab and Haryana have imposed night curfew or weekend curbs which businesses say have already hit transportation and raw material supplies.

U.S. President Joe Biden wants three Central American countries to crack down on corruption as part of a plan to spend billions of dollars in the region to stem illegal migration. Since taking office in January, Biden's administration has pledged to set up a regional task force to fight graft, and threatened to freeze U.S. bank accounts of corrupt officials in Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador - three countries known as the Northern Triangle that account for much of undocumented immigration to the United States.

Dublin, April 15, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The "Paper Cups Market: Global Industry Trends, Share, Size, Growth, Opportunity and Forecast 2021-2026" report has been added to ResearchAndMarkets.com's offering. The global paper cups market reached a volume of 244.7 Billion Units in 2020. Paper cups are a type of disposable cups used for consuming food and beverages such as tea, coffee, soft drinks, and soups. These cups are coated with polyethylene, the most common plastic resin, which helps to increase their durability and performance by preventing the condensed moisture from soaking in and retaining flavour. With their hectic lifestyles and busy schedules, consumers nowadays utilize paper cups to save time and effort as these cups do not require cleaning and can be easily discarded after use. The demand for paper cups has also been influenced by the rising trend of takeaway services and ready-to-eat food across the globe.Global Paper Cups Market Drivers/Constraints:The environmental damage caused by plastic cups has led various organizations to encourage the utilization of paper cups due to their eco-friendly nature, which has created a positive impact on the global paper cups market. Moreover, on account of increasing awareness about cleanliness and hygiene, consumers consider disposable paper cups to be safer than reusable cups, as they are exposed to high heat during the manufacturing process which kills bacteria and renders the product practically sterile. However, the availability of cheaper substitutes, such as plastic, Styrofoam and glass cups, pose a major threat to the sales of paper cups across the globe. Looking forward, the publisher expects the global paper cups market to exhibit moderate growth during the next five years.Key Market Segmentation:The publisher provides an analysis of the key trends in each sub-segment of the global paper cups market report, along with forecasts for growth at the global, regional and country-level from 2021-2026. Caster Semenya retained her 5,000 metres title at the South African Athletics Championships on Thursday and confirmed she would not be attempting to qualify for the 200m at the Tokyo Games. The double Olympic 800-metres champion cannot compete over her favoured distance having refused to abide by a World Athletics ruling that athletes with differences in sexual development (DSDs) competing in races ranging from 400 metres to a mile must reduce their naturally high levels of testosterone. She has taken that fight to the European Court of Human Rights but it seems unlikely that there will be an outcome before the July 23-Aug. 8 Olympics.

Dublin, April 15, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The "Generic Drugs Market: Global Industry Trends, Share, Size, Growth, Opportunity and Forecast 2021-2026" report has been added to ResearchAndMarkets.com's offering. The global generic drugs market reached a value of US$ 386 Billion in 2020. A generic drug is a medicine that contains the same active ingredient and has an equivalent therapeutic effect as the branded drug. It is also identical in terms of safety, quality, dosage, strength, route of administration, intended use, effect, form, quality and side effects. These medications can be produced only after the patent expiration of the brand-name drug. As compared to branded drugs, the production of generics costs much less as it does not require the repetition of clinical (human) and animal studies to demonstrate the effectiveness and safety of the medicine. Due to a reduction in the upfront cost of research, generics are typically sold at a substantially lower price in the market.Market Trends:Due to an aging population and increasing incidences of chronic diseases, governments of developed countries have been making efforts to reduce healthcare costs by promoting the production of generics. Whereas, in developing countries, affordability and accessibility are some of the primary issues faced by the healthcare industry. To address these problems, governments and other regulatory bodies have been encouraging manufacturers to introduce effective generic drugs. However, despite the rapid patent expiry of branded drugs, there has been a shortage of generics. This situation is currently being rectified by various initiatives taken by hospitals, institutions and other organizations across the globe. For instance, in 2018, a coalition of seven hospitals and three philanthropies in the US announced that they would be addressing drug shortages and the high cost of essential medications by launching a generic drug company, named Civica Rx. The company is producing 14 short-supply, FDA-approved drugs that have been available in the market since the beginning of 2019. Other than this, in 2018, the United States Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) created policies to make the process of market entry and generic approval more efficient. It issued guidance documents for the development of both hard-to-copy drug categories and specific complex drugs. Looking forward, the publisher expects the global generic drugs market to exhibit moderate growth during the next five years.Breakup by Therapy Area: Central Nervous SystemCardiovascularDermatologyGenitourinary/HormonalRespiratoryRheumatologyDiabetesOncologyOthers Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are the leading therapy area, accounting for the majority of the total market, on account of the increasing cases of CVDs as a result of unhealthy eating habits and sedentary lifestyles.Breakup by Drug Delivery: OralInjectablesDermal/TopicalInhalers Currently, oral medicines are the most preferred product, owing to the convenience attached to their administration, which requires minimal to no medical assistance.Breakup by Distribution Channel: Retail PharmaciesHospital Pharmacies At present, the majority of the generics are distributed through retail pharmacy stores as most generic drugs are over the counter (OTC) medicines that can be bought without a prescription.Regional Insights: United StatesChinaBrazilGermanyFranceIndiaUnited KingdomJapanCanadaItalyOthers On a regional basis, the United States represents the biggest market, accounting for the largest market share. More migrants are crossing the U.S.-Mexico border near Del Rio, Texas than Martinez recalls in his 13 years as Val Verde County Sheriff. Last month, he said, a resident fired his gun to scare a group of migrants walking on the outskirts of town; nearby schools were locked down in response. Tensions are rising in Del Rio, a city of 35,000, as the nation once again grapples with an increase in migrants seeking entry into the United States.
The risk of developing a rare brain clot from Covid-19 is about eight times greater than vaccination with the AstraZeneca-Oxford jab, according to a new study. Researchers at the University of Oxford, who are not linked to the vaccine, also found that people infected with coronavirus are “manyfold times” more likely than normal to develop the rare clotting disorder, known as cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT). “There's no doubt that Covid is a much greater risk of this [condition] than any of the vaccines,” said Professor Paul Harrison, a co-author of the study.
