Chinese businesses up and running while the world struggles

Even amidst social distancing, people in central China, where the COVID-19 coronavirus was first detected, are now allowed to go back to work and public transport has restarted, as some normality slowly returns after a two-month lockdown.

Chinese businesses are up and running and the manufacturing industry has swung back into action. I this backdrop, industry representatives met with government officials seeking sops to pay wages to workers, etc. They fear that if India does not soon allow re-opening of manufacturing units under lockdown, India will lose international markets to China, which has resumed production post the coronavirus outbreak.

Do you think the Indian manufacturers can restart operations given the current COVID-19 threat in the air? Has China in fact beaten India in this race?
