The key players in 2G spectrum scam

A Raja: The Dalit DMK leader, who took over as Telecom Minister in May 2007, was the main accused in the 2G scam – which caused losses to the tune of Rs 30,984 crore to the exchequer, according to estimates by the Comptroller and Auditor General. Raja allegedly colluded with telecom companies to hand out licences on a first-cum-first-serve basis, cut-off dates were moved up, and irregularities were found in the issuance of these licences.

A special CBI court concluded hearing the final arguments in the 2G spectrum scam on April 26, 2017. On October 25, judge O P Saini is scheduled to deliver the verdict pertaining to the three cases – two filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation, and one by the Enforcement Directorate – in the matter.
