Xiaomi Mi 9T, Mi 9T Pro launch today, likely rebranded Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro for global market

Xiaomi has confirmed that the Mi 9T and the Mi 9T Pro will come with a 48-megapixel camera sensor, a Snapdragon processor, and a 4,000mAh battery.

Xiaomi launched the Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro in China end of last month. Both the phones are coming to India in the next few weeks, Xiaomi India Managing Director Manu Jain has confirmed. In other markets, the Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro are expected to launch as Xiaomi Mi 9T and Mi 9T Pro, respectively. The Xiaomi Mi 9T and the Mi 9T Pro are launching in Madrid, Milan and Paris today.

Ahead of the launch the rumours and leaks have revealed a lot about the Mi 9T and the Mi 9T Pro. Some of the official teasers have revealed that both the Mi 9T and the Mi 9T Pro will come with pop-up selfie camera on the front and include the fingerprint sensor beneath the screen. Xiaomi has also confirmed that the Mi 9T and the Mi 9T Pro will come with a 48-megapixel camera sensor, a Snapdragon processor, and a 4,000mAh battery.

Surprisingly, just a day before the launch the Mi 9T Pro was spotted listed on a Netherlands-based online retailer while a couple of days ago the Mi 9 was seen listed on sale in Bulgaria. According to the Bulgaria retail website the Mi 9T comes for starting price of BGN 769.90 that roughly translates to Rs 30,900. This price is for the 6GB + 64GB variant of the phone. The price of the phone is said to vary based on the markets. In Philippines, the Mi 9T was spotted selling at a starting price of PHP 19,000 (roughly Rs. 25,500). The price of the Mi 9T Pro is yet to be revealed.

Considering the Mi 9T and Mi 9T Pro are said to be rebranded Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro, respectively, the price of the phones are also expected to be close to Redmi devices. In China, the Redmi K20 sells for starting price of CNY 1,999 (Rs 20,200) for the 6GB + 64GB variant. The 6GB + 128GB, 8GB + 256GB variant come at CNY 2,099 (Rs 21,200) and CNY 2,599 (Rs 26,200) respectively.

In the same way, considering the Mi 9T Pro is expected to be rebranded Redmi K20 Pro we expect the price of both the phones to be close enough. In China, the Redmi K20 Pro starts at CNY 2,499 (Rs 25,200) for the 6GB + 64GB variant. The 6GB + 128GB, 8GB + 128GB, and 8GB + 256GB variants of the Redmi phone come at CNY 2,599 (Rs 26,200), CNY 2,799 (Rs 28,200), and CNY 2,999 (Rs 30,200) respectively.

As far as the specs are concerned, the Mi 9T and Mi 9T Pro are expected to come packed with a 6.39-inch full-HD+ display with screen resolution of 1080x2340 pixels and aspect ratio of 19:5:9. On the hardware front the Mi 9T is expected to be powered by Snapdragon 730 while the Mi 9T Pro is expected to come with Snapdragon 855 processor. On the front both the Mi phones are said to include 20MP selfie shooter that pops out when the camera app is opened. On the rear panel the phones are expected to include 48MP primary sensor. In total both the Mi phones are said to include three cameras on the back panel. The phones are said to be backed by a 4000mAh battery.
