Vodafone Idea now giving extra free data with select prepaid plans: You should thank Airtel

Vodafone has revised two of its popular prepaid plans with regards to benefits. The updated plans now offer greater data benefit than before.

Vodafone isn't having great innings since its merger with Idea. Over the last few months, we have been seeing India's largest telecom operator losing subscribers unlike anything and despite all attempts, the situation isn't improving. Despite that, Vodafone is still trying all ways to lure new subscribers to its services amidst a very competitive telecom sector. And the proof of that has just been found as Vodafone has updated two of its popular prepaid plans to tackle one of its biggest rivals - Airtel.

After Airtel increased its data allowance on select prepaid plans, Vodafone Idea has also done the same. The operator has introduced a new promotional offer that gives 400MB extra data to subscribers of select prepaid plans. The plans that are eligible for these benefits include the Rs 399 and Rs 499 plans. Vodafone is only adding extra 400MB data to total data allotment in these plans and changes nothing else.

The first plan that's eligible for this benefit costs Rs 399 and previously, it used to offer 1GB data per day. With the new offer implemented, subscribers can now get 1.4GB data per day. This is a good deal for those who want enough data to catch up with all video based stuff. This plan also offers unlimited local and STD calls for a total period of 84 days. However, do note that this offer is only valid if you make the recharge via the My Vodafone app.

The second plan that costs Rs 499 is only valid on the Idea network and therefore, isn't valid for Vodafone subscribers. This plan initially used to come with 2GB data daily but after the revision, the total data that the subscriber gets is 2.4GB data per day. Similar to the Vodafone plan, subscribers need to make the recharge via the My Idea-Recharge and Payments application.

This move is clearly a response to Airtel's idea to offer more data on its popular prepaid plans. Airtel introduced its #AirtelThanks offer to extend additional 400MB data for select prepaid plans. Airtel's offer also stands on its Rs 399 plan and it offers complimentary subscription to Airtel Premium TV, one year of Norton Mobile Security and Wynk.
