Vivo V12 Pro to launch in India in the first half of 2019, could be priced under Rs 30,000
Vivo has launched some really cool phones in India this year. Starting from the Vivo NEX, which is the first-ever pop-up selfie camera phone, to the V11 Pro, Vivo has left its mark in the Indian smartphone industry will the innovation it brought to the consumers. With the V11 Pro, Vivo brought the in-display fingerprint sensor technology to the masses which attracted the attention of a lot of consumers. The smartphone was launched in September for a price of Rs 25,990. The success of the V11 Pro brings us to the successor to the smartphone that is going to be called the Vivo V12 Pro and it will launch in the first half of 2019.
The successor to the V11 Pro will be launching in India in the first half of next year, Nipun Marya, Director-Brand Strategy of Vivo India told India Today Tech. "We usually launch V series flagship products twice a year, one in the first half and one in the second half. In 2018, V9 was launched in the first half of the year, while the V11 Pro was brought to India in the second half. This time also, we will be launching something in the first half of 2019 and it will be the successor of the V11 Pro."
Although Marya didn't confirm the name of the V11 Pro successor, it is pretty certain that Vivo will call it V12 Pro. As Marya has confirmed that Vivo will launch the successor to the V11 Pro in the first half of 2019, we expect the successor to the V9 to come in the second half of the year, which will most likely be the Vivo V10.
Being a successor to the V11 Pro, we expect the V12 Pro to also come with in-display fingerprint sensor, but an improved version of it. The V11 Pro was the first phone from Vivo under Rs 30,000 to have a waterdrop notch on the screen. Having said that, there are chances that the upcoming V12 Pro will either have the same waterdrop notch or it will further push the limits of technology by using a punch hole display for the front camera, similar to what we have seen in a couple of phones from Samsung and Honor.
The Vivo V11 Pro was an "almost perfect" phone for its price, something we said in our review. The smartphone comes with a 6.41-inch Super AMOLED display with 2340x1080p resolution, an aspect ratio of 19:5:9 and screen to body ratio of 91.27 per cent. The V11 Pro is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 660 processor, paired with 6GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage that is expandable via microSD card.
The V11 Pro clicks great pictures in both daylight and also in low light scenarios and we expect the same from the successor of the phone. On the camera front, the V11 Pro includes a dual camera setup on the back with a primary sensor of 12MP paired with an aperture of f/1.8 and 1.28-micron pixels and secondary sensor of 5MP sensor with f/2.4 aperture for portrait shots. The 25MP camera selfie camera of the V11 Pro also as good as the main camera. The phone comes with 3400mAh battery with dual engine fast charging support which is as fast as OnePlus' Dash charger.
