UK site sells kurti minus salwar for Rs 2k as boho dress. ROFL, says desi Twitter

A vintage and retro clothing website from England is going viral online and for all the right reasons, all of which will leave you in splits.

The website, which is based in Purfleet, a town in England, recently released a collection of their 'boho dresses'. Only, the dresses featured in the collection are nothing but kameez minus the salwar. Yes, you read that right.

The website is selling kurtis and kameez on their page by calling each of the garments a 'vintage boho dress'. The blunder by the website was pointed out on Twitter by a user called Diya. She posted the pictures with the caption, "vintage boho dress????? Girl u got on a damn kameez with no salwar."

And the bizarreness of it all doesn't end there; the website is selling a total of 51 such 'dresses' - or kurtis, in desi lingo - and they are for Rs 1,780 each.

After Diya posted pictures of the 'dresses' on her Twitter account, people obviously couldn't stop laughing at the website for being so ignorant. A few were also furious with them for appropriating Asian clothing and being uninformed about fashion from other regions.

One Twitter user wrote, "Lemme add this to my cultural appropriation thread," while another posted, "It looks so...off...without the pants. Like that dream where you get to school & realize you left home in your underwear lol. (sic)"

After all, it doesn't take a genius to realise that one, that it isn't a dress; and two, you would require a salwar with it.

And let's not even go into the larger debate about appropriating Asian clothing and culture.
