Jurgen Klinsmann has thrown his hat into the ring for the Tottenham job and says he would “absolutely” be interested in taking over as their manager if he was offered the chance by Spurs chairman Daniel Levy.

Klinsmann spent two successful spell at Tottenham as a player and says the club “is in his heart”.

The German, who has been out of work since leaving Hertha Berlin in 2020, has revealed he called Levy after he sacked Jose Mourinho in April.

Tottenham's search for a new manager has plunged into chaos after they ended talks with Paulo Fonseca and then Gennaro Gattuso.

It is unclear where Spurs go from here following the latest twist in a protracted and shambolic search for a permanent successor to Mourinho.

But Klinsmann has said he is interested in speaking to Levy about the vacant manager’s position.

“I called him after his let Mourinho go,” revealed Klinsmann while working as a pundit for the BBC on Friday.

“I said, ‘Daniel what is the case now?’. He said, ‘I have so much to do to sort things out at the club. Let’s talk a little later on’.

“Then I saw all the different names walking in, talking. . . and walking out. The same today.

“Spurs is in my heart. Would I be interested in the job? Absolutely. But if he [Levy] does not want to, I cannot force him.”
