Spec comparo: Etergo AppScooter vs Ather 450X vs Bajaj Chetak vs TVS iQube

Ola Electric recently acquired Etergo - an EV startup from the Netherlands, that was founded in 2014. And Ola Electric announced that with this expansion it will enter the premium electric scooter space both globally and nationally. Ola Electric says that it will launch its global electric scooter in India by 2021 and we can't help but compare the existing AppScooter with its prime rivals in the country. Let's zap into it.


The AppScooter is powered by a 6kW electric motor that makes 135Nm of torque at the wheel and it dashes from 0-45kmph in just 3.9 seconds. The AppScooter works on a swappable modular battery setup consisting of up to three lithium-ion battery packs that weigh 7.5kg each. It has a maximum range of 80km per module. The batteries are 11.5kWh per module and a full charge takes 2.3 hours, it has a 1.5 hour fast charging time. The Ather 450X is powered by a 6kW permanent magnet motor supported by a 2.9 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. The 450X can sprint from 0-40kmph in 3.3 seconds. The maximum range of the 450X is 116km and the warp mode can deliver up to 85km of range.

The Bajaj Chetak is powered by a 4.08kW motor paired to 3kWh battery that makes 16Nm of torque and 5.1PS of power. The Chetak claims a range of 95km on a full charge. It takes five hours for a full charge and one hour for 25 per cent charge. The TVS iQube gets a 4.4kWh motor and a battery of 2.25kWh that makes a torque of 140Nm. It has a top speed of 78kmph and it can dart from 0-40kmph in 4.2 seconds. The iQube has a range of 75km on a full charge. The TVS iQube has the lowest range in the lot.


The AppScooter features a 50l storage compartment, a 7-inch Android infotainment touchscreen console that comes with LTE, Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity with OTA service and feature updates. The Ather 450X features a 7-inch touchscreen dashboard with 4G sim card and Bluetooth connectivity. The in-app features include ride statistics, charging status, push navigation and live location with vehicle state tracking, voice assistant and welcome lights. The TVS iQube and Bajaj Chetak get connected features that sync to the user's smartphone and hosts features like geo-tagging, geo-fencing and connected features include telemetry, ride stats, and battery status.


The Etergo AppScooter is priced around 4,000 euros and that is roughly Rs 3.3 lakhs, it would be interesting to see how Ola Electric prices it in India. The Bajaj Chetak costs Rs 1 lakh ex-showroom and the top model is priced at Rs 1.15 lakh ex-showroom. The TVS iQube is offered at a price of Rs 1.15 lakh on-road and the Ather 450X is available in a choice of two models- 450x Plus at Rs 1.35 lakh ex-showroom and 450x Pro at Rs 1.45 lakh ex-showroom.
