The Indian headline indices-Sensex and Nifty ended lower on Wednesday amid US-China trade tensions. Both the indices had opened lower today morning. While the Sensex fell 193 points to 39,756, the Nifty settled at 11,900 mark, 59 points down from the previous close. The emerging market stocks fell today amid fears that the US-China trade war would intensify. The SGX Nifty today ended at 11,958.50, down 22.50 points from the previous close. The Indian rupee gained 12 paise and is trading at 69.32 per dollar against the previous close of 69.44.
Banking and auto stocks were the major losers on India’s leading exchanges. While the top losers on BSE are Tata Steel, Vedanta, Sun Pharma and Asian Paints, the top losers are Yes Bank, Maruti, Hero MotoCorp and Kotak Bank. Among the Nifty50, the leading stocks are Tata Steel, GAIL and ONGC, while losers are Sun Pharma and the losers are Indiabulls Housing, Yes Bank and Bharti Infratel.
