After a weak closing on the previous day, Indian indices opened on a positive note on Tuesday, 7 May. The BSE Sensex rose as much as 0.48 percent to 38,778.13 and the Nifty 50 rose 0.42 percent to 11,649.
Marico, Bharti Airtel, Yes Bank, HDFC Bank, Tata Steel, Vedanta, Tata Motors, IndusInd Bank, Britannia, SBI, Power Grid, are among major gainers on the indices, while lowers are ICICI Bank, IOC, ONGC, Indiabulls Housing, HPCL and BPCL.
Meanwhile, on Monday, 6 May, Nifty ended below 11,600 and Sensex fell 362 points on weak global cues, clocking the biggest single-day fall in two weeks.
Indian rupee opened marginally higher at 69.37 per dollar on Tuesday versus previous close of 69.40.
