After Samsung and Huawei, Oppo now plans to showcase its foldable phone at MWC 2019
Looks like foldable phone will be one of the trends of 2019. Samsung recently at its developer's conference showcased a prototype of its upcoming foldable phone -- which most likely will be called Galaxy X or Galaxy F. The South Korean smartphone maker said that it will be launching its longtime rumoured foldable phone next year. Following Samsung, reports leaked last week claimed that LG is also prepping to bring its foldable phone in 2019. A new report coming straight from a company executive now reveals that Oppo could also be joining the bandwagon.
The information comes straight from Oppo's Product Manager Chuck Wang. He has revealed that Oppo will show its first foldable smartphone at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona in February 2019. It is the same time when Samsung is planning to launch its foldable phone - aka Galaxy X or Galaxy F -alongside the Galaxy S10 series of phones.
With just three months to go for the launch, it will be safe to assume that Oppo is already started working on the foldable phone. Although Wang didn't specify any key information about the Oppo foldable phone, he did mention that the company is also working on a 5G smartphone in 2020. Additionally, Wang also said that Oppo will also aim to release its first phone with a display cutout in 2020.
While Samsung and Oppo are planning to bring their respective foldable phones at MWC 2019, LG seems to opt for an early launch. Reports suggest that the LG could be launching its foldable phone at CES 2018, which is scheduled to happen in January next year. Additionally, alongside Samsung, LG, and Oppo, Huawei is also said to showcase a foldable phone at MWC. Meanwhile, some reports also suggest that Xiaomi is also working on a foldable phone, but the company is yet to reveal official details regarding the same.
