Samsung's next flip phone SM-W2019 to launch on Nov 9: Report
Samsung's new flip phone, rumoured to be called as SM-W2019, has been in news for a while now. There have been leaks and rumours pouring in from all sides suggesting that the phone may not be far from its launch date. While there had been only speculations about its launch date, Samsung China has now finally confirmed the launch date of the phone.
According to a report from Sammobile, the company will launch its flip phone on November 9 in China. The report details that the company will not launch the device globally as they are not many buyers of it across the globe. It will be unveiled only in China and South Korea.
The company has apparently sent out invites for the same. The event will be organised in Wuxi city near Shanghai in China. The invite has a W made out of phone in Red and Blue colour hinting that these could be the colour options of the phone.
The new SM-W2019 will succeed the W2018 which was launched last year. To recall, the W2018 came with two 4.2-inch AMOLED display panels and was powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset. The device packed in 6GB of RAM and 64GB storage.
The upcoming SM-W2019 also got certified by Wi-Fi Alliance in early October this year. The phone was seen running Android 8.1 Oreo which we expect will be updated to Android 9 Pie once the phone is out in the hands of users. There are speculations that the phone will be powered by latest Snapdragon 845 but nothing is confirmed yet. The phone, like its predecessor, will have two AMOLED display panels .
The leaked pictures in the past suggest that the phone will be built out of metal and sport dual cameras on the back. The phone could ditch the 3.5mm audio jack. The pricing of the phone is still a secret.
Meanwhile, Samsung's foldable phone is expected to launch next week. The phone has been in rumours since a long time now and we could now finally get a glimpse of it.
