Royal Enfield Himalayan BS6 Snapped Undisguised: India Launch Expected In The Coming Days

The Royal Enfield Himalayan BS6 has been snapped testing on the roads on several occasions. However, the latest pictures posted by HelmetStories reveals the full motorcycle, without wraps. Also, it is visible that the BS6 Himalayan now gets a new dual-tone (Red and Black) paint scheme on the tank.

The BS6 Himalayan was showcased at the EICMA Motor show last year along with the latest paint scheme as seen on the spy images. Along with the Rocky Red paint scheme, it will get two other new dual-colour options: Lake Blue and Gravel Grey, which looks awesome.

Some of the upcoming features that the RE Himalayan BS6 will be getting is a hazard light switch, a re-designed instrument cluster that features seven tell-tale lights, and a taller windshield for less air drag. From the spied images it is visible that the motorcycle might get a smaller wheel at the front and also switchable dual-channel ABS for better off-roading performance.

Other highlights of the motorcycle are the split-cradle frame, the telescopic front forks, and the mono-shock at the rear are expected to remain the same. Braking duties will be handled by a 300mm disc brake at the front, and a 240mm disc at the rear.

Mechanically the BS6 Himalayan will draw power from the same tried and tested 411cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine. The engine is capable of pumping out 24.5bhp of power and 32Nm of peak torque. The engine comes mated to a five-speed transmission and there might be a slight reduction in power due to the BS6 update. The updated power and torque figures are yet to be known.

The BS4 Royal Enfield Himalayan carries a price tag of around Rs 1.67 lakh (ex-showroom). We expect that the new BS6 model will be priced slightly premium over the current generation model, which is close to Rs 10,000 to 15,000. The RE Himalayan currently has no direct rivals in the Indian market, but it will go up against the like of the upcoming KTM 390 Adventure when it launches in India.

Thoughts On The Royal Enfield Himalayan BS6

Alone with the new paint schemes and all the updates, the upcoming BS6 Himalayan will be an excellent motorcycle for people who are looking forward to their first adventure motorcycle.
