Realme 5 Pro launching in India on August 20: What do we know about its quad cameras

Realme will launch the Realme 5 series in India on August 20. The company has revealed that it will launch three smartphones with quad camera systems before Diwali. Out of the three phones, only one of them will sport the new 64MP Samsung GW1 sensor that the company has been hyping up for the past few months. The 64MP quad camera Realme phone will likely launch next month or sometime in October. This month, we will see the launch of the Realme 5 and Realme 5 Pro.

The Realme 5 and Realme 5 Pro will be launching just a couple of months after the Realme X and Realme 3i. With a third quad camera phone on its way, it is clear that Realme is looking to rapidly expand its portfolio this year. The Realme 5 series is largely a mystery, but we do know something about its highlight quad camera setup from none other than Realme India CEO Madhav Sheth himself.

In a tweet, Sheth posted a few numbers that all relate to the quad camera setup on the upcoming Realme 5 series. 4+48+586+119 is what the Realme India CEO posted, and it's easy enough to understand what they refer to. The '4' refers to four camera sensors that the Realme 5 and 5 Pro will bring.

The '48' and '586' indicates that the phones will feature a 48MP Sony IMX586 primary sensor, which is also seen on the Realme X. Lastly, the '119' refers to the 119-degree ultra wide-angle camera that both the Realme 5 and Realme 5 Pro are expected to get in their quad camera setup. Relame has been posted several sample images shot through the wide-angle camera in recent days.

In addition to a high-resolution 48MP camera and an ultra wide-angle sensor, the Realme 5 and Realme 5 Pro will also get a 4cm macro camera to capture detailed photos up close to a subject and a telephoto camera. However, the resolution for these sensors are currently unknown.

With a quad camera setup, Realme is looking to better the camera experience for its smartphones. The company has so far launched phones with single or dual cameras and most of them have received praises, especially the Realme X with its 48MP dual camera setup. The Realme 5 series will likely take on the Redmi K20 series in the sub Rs 30,000, which would make them Realme's most premium phones yet.
