Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot proposes law against lynching and honour killings
Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has proposed a law against mob lynching and honor killings.
Ashok Gehlot made the statement during his reply to the debate on the 2019 Budget on Tuesday.
The CM said it is a huge tragedy when anyone is killed in the name of religion and it is an equally sad situation when parents or relatives kill a boy and girl who are in love and decide to get married against their wishes.
Ashok Gehlot said both the laws would help in the trial of accused properly and ensure stringent punishment to the perpetrator of such heinous crimes.
He also expressed his concern over rape cases including children and said the situation had reached such an alarming proportion that the apex court and the Chief Justice of India have to take notice of it.
Ashok Gehlot said he would introduce a chapter in Class 10 to 12 in state government schools through which teachers will educate students against crime against women, its repercussion for them and society and the related laws.
