Q. What is Challan 280? Gaurav Chopra
A. Challan 280 is the form used for making online and offline payment of the Income Tax. Once Challan 280 is used to make the tax payment, its information is required to be submitted to the income tax department.
While paying tax through offline form, you would require details like PAN number, assessment year, address, e-mail id, contact number, etc. The Challan 280 can be submitted along with payment in cash or non-cash mode at the designated bank’s branch and keep the counterfoil as proof of payment.
In the online mode, the process is quicker and more convenient. Once the payment is transferred, you’ll receive the challan identification number (CIN). You can use the CIN to track the payment status and to file the ITR.
