London, Sept. 26 (ANI): Pakistan's first website for homosexuals, Queerpk.com, has been blocked by the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) authorities after three months of its launch.
When users tried to open the site, they received a message that due to forbidden content, access had been denied.
However, the site is working on a new domain name to allow access for web users outside Pakistan, the BBC reports.
The site's founder said that the website does not contain any explicit or offensive content, and PTA's decision to close it down without any prior notice was unconstitutional and violated freedom of speech.
Queerpk.com was launched in July with the slogan "Know us, don't hate us" with an aim to offer support to the gay community by raising awareness of gay issues and offer advice and sex education to gay, lesbian and transgender people in Pakistan.
The website did not pursue any legal action, but it hopes human rights groups and social workers will raise the issue with the government. (ANI)
