Oppn flays Modi's Chinese diplomacy
The Opposition has launched a series of attacks on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Chinese diplomacy. This was the fourth time that China blocked a fresh move to brand Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) chief Masood Azhar as a global terrorist at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).
Congress president Rahul Gandhi called China's move at the UNSC a failure of Modi's foreign policy. Rahul tweeted: "Weak Modi is scared of Xi. Not a word comes out of his mouth when China acts against India. NoMo's China Diplomacy: 1. Swing with Xi in Gujarat 2. Hug Xi in Delhi 3. Bow to Xi in China."
The BJP hit back by saying that their diplomacy is successful to an extent that Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman had to be released by Pakistan. A BJP leader made a reference to Rahul's unofficial meeting with Chinese envoys in 2018. He said: China wouldn't be in UNSC had your great grandfather not 'gifted' it to them at India's cost. India is undoing all mistakes of your family. Be assured that India will win the fight against terror. Leave it to PM Modi while you keep cosying up with the Chinese envoys secretly.
BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad said: "What has happened with Rahul Gandhi? His tweet must be a headline in Pakistan. Why is he in a celebratory mood? Rahul Gandhi, you can't decide foreign policy through Twitter. I want to ask if you had tweeted in 2009 when UPA was in power and China had placed a technical hold on Masood Azhar's designation as a global terrorist by UN."
Akali Dal leader Harsimrat Kaur Badal appealed for a complete ban on Chinese goods in India. "It's time for Indians to send out a message to China that if you support those terrorists who attack our jawans/people, then every Indian should make up their mind, starting from Holi we're not going to touch a single Chinese product."
NC chief Omar Abdullah questioned the BJP's claims on tough stance on national security. "PM Modi surrendered to China on Azhar and surrendered to Pakistan & its proxies by delaying elections in J&K. How can the BJP claim to have been tough on internal security and tough against terror?"
Randeep Surjewala tweeted that the Congress' diplomacy was far more successful than the NDA regime. "Under Congress-UPA, India got UN Security Council to declare Hafiz Saeed as a designated global terrorist. This is the difference between - Dr Manmohan Singh & 56" - Weak Modi!"
AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi said: "This is the failure of Narendra Modi's 'jhoola diplomacy' & this 'jhoola diplomacy' is so fantastic that China refuses to cooperate in blacklisting this terrorist.
