OnePlus TV remote image offers a look at its metal design, Google Assistant button

OnePlus TV is launching in India soon and the company is doing its bit to keep the hype train running. OnePlus has been sharing key details about its upcoming smart television like its 8-speaker configuration to deliver 50W sound output and the fact that it is an Android TV that will offer features like Google Assistant, Chromecast built-in and Google Play services. Now, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau has given us a first look at the OnePlus TV remote, and it looks all kinds of premium.

The OnePlus TV remote image posted by Pete Lau on Twitter reminds one of the Apple TV remote. It comes with a similar brushed metal body to offer a high-end look and feel. Lau hasn't shared details about what each button on the remote can do, but we can make some observations.

There is a control pad on the top that will likely allow you to browse through the UI and select content. We see a few buttons on the bottom to perform various actions. One of them is clearly a Google Assistant button that will allow you to access entertainment platforms, get weather updates and control your smart home devices using your voice. There's also a button with a OnePlus logo on it, which may take you to OnePlus-specific apps.

We also see a hamburger-style menu button and an elongated button that could be used to perform additional actions like say going back. Lastly, there's a button with nothing mentioned on it, so we can only assume it's a power button. On the right side of the remote is a volume key and nn the bottom of the OnePlus TV remote is a Type-C port to charge the device.

The OnePlus TV remote seems to compliment the premium-ness of the OnePlus TV that the company has been teasing so far. The OnePlus TV will aim to take on premium players like Samsung, LG and Sony. OnePlus has also revealed that the OnePlus TV will offer a 55-inch 4K resolution with a QLED panel in India. An exact launch date for the OnePlus TV is still unknown, but it is expected to launch later this month and will be exclusively available on Amazon India.
