OnePlus confirms QLED screen for 55-inch OnePlus TV, could be cheapest smart QLED TV in India

Earlier this week, OnePlus announced a lot regarding its upcoming OnePlus TV. OnePlus CEO Pete Lau spoke at length about what you can expect from the OnePlus TV, including some of the features. One of the biggest announcements was the inclusion of the QLED screen on the OnePlus TV. QLED screens have been exclusive to premium TVs above Rs 1 lakh and given that OnePlus follows its strategy of flagship killer products, we could get to see such a TV under Rs 1 lakh in India. Today, OnePlus has confirmed the QLED screen (again) and one of the many screen sizes for the OnePlus TV.

On one of OnePlus' recent social media posts, it has been confirmed that OnePlus will be selling a 55-inch model of the OnePlus TV in India. This model will ship with a QLED screen, as OnePlus confirmed earlier, and could be the base model globally if you take into account the previous leaks.

The teaser image also hints at extremely thin bezels to the sides. That is a standard affair on most QLED TVs these days but it's good to know that there are no ugly bezels surrounding the screen of the OnePlus TV. OnePlus CEO Pete Lau did say that he wanted the TV to look good and this is surely something pointing out towards one of those signs.

However, a couple of leaks over the last few weeks have given us a fair idea of all the screen sizes that the OnePlus TV will come in. The 55-inch model will be globally the base version and a 65-inch model will also accompany it. The US and China markets will get a massive 75-inch model whereas, for India, there's expected to be an exclusive 43-inch model.

OnePlus has clearly mentioned its intentions of now going after the budget smart TV segment. Instead, the company will focus on offering a premium TV experience that ensures a solid user experience. That remains to be seen until we get our hands on a review unit but OnePlus says it is using Google's Android TV OS platform as the base and bringing its own optimisations to give a content-heavy TV smart interface.
