OnePlus 7 Pro is on sale today: Here's all you need to know before you buy this killer flagship

The OnePlus 7 Pro will go on sale today for Amazon Prime members. Prices start at Rs 48,999 for the base variant and go up to Rs 57,999 for the top-end variant with 12GB RAM.

Last night OnePlus launched the OnePlus 7 and the OnePlus 7 Pro. Of the two, the OnePlus 7 seems remarkably solid, with a fantastic price of Rs 32,999. The OnePlus 7 Pro, however, is the star of the latest OnePlus show: A more exciting phone with a number of unique technologies in it. The OnePlus 7 Pro is also a phone that is going on sale first, with its open sale beginning from May 17. And hence the OnePlus 7 Pro is the phone that over here at the India Today Tech we have reviewed first. Our OnePlus 7 Pro review went up last night while OnePlus launched the phone at an event in Bengaluru. It's a detailed review and you should totally check out it out.

Did we say it is a detailed OnePlus 7 Pro review? Yes, it is nearly 2500 words. And that, in today's busy, world may require a bit too much of your time. So if you are in a hurry and are looking to understand the OnePlus 7 Pro without going through a lengthy review, see this cheat-sheet we have put together for the phone. We call it the OnePlus 7 Pro review redux. So, let's go.

1- In the India Today Tech Review, the OnePlus 7 Pro gets 8.5 points out of 10. This is an incredible score and there are only a handful of smartphones that have received such high rating in our reviews. What does 8.5 out of 10 points mean in an India Today tech review? This means you can close your eyes and buy the OnePlus 7 Pro for it is not only a reliable smartphone but also one that completely justifies its price and will definitely delight you while you use it.

2- Talking of price, the starting price of the OnePlus 7 Pro is Rs 48,999. This is a price better than expected, considering the leaks put it at Rs 49,999 and even that seemed too good a price. So for Rs 48,999, the OnePlus 7 Pro is whole lot of phone.

3- Talking of whole lot of phone, what is it that you get with the OnePlus 7 Pro? A lot, right. This is a proper top-end smartphone with cutting-edge hardware and even unique technologies inside it. The highlight of the hardware is the Snapdragon 855 processor, which is not only fast theoretically but also seems nippy while you use the phone. The base variant of the OnePlus 7 Pro gets 6GB RAM. We reviewed the 12GB variant over here at the India Today Tech. In terms of storage you can choose between 128GB and 256GB. The storage uses fast UFS 3.0 standard.

4- With the OnePlus 7 Pro, OnePlus has tweaked the design of its phone. And the phone looks stunning albeit a bit inspired by Samsung Galaxy S10. It is rounder than the S10, and its vertical camera module looks better. Also, to get an almost bezel-less look, OnePlus is using a front camera module that pops-out of the phone when it needs to be used. The pop-up module uses a small motor. While reviewing the phone, we particularly liked the Nebula Blue finish of the OnePlus 7 Pro, and how this finish with its frosted glass reflects the light. The fit, finish and build quality of the OnePlus 7 Pro is impeccable, although the phone lacks IP rating. But OnePlus says that the OnePlus 7 Pro survive water splashes etc all fine.

Overall, the OnePlus 7 Pro looks lovely and its all-screen front is stunning.

5- While reviewing the OnePlus 7 Pro we found that this is a blazing fast phone. OnePlus phones are usually fast and this one is no exception. It is the combination of hardware, optimised Oxygen OS software and that screen with new 90Hz technology that makes the OnePlus 7 Pro ultra smooth as you use it.

6- Talking of screen, OnePlus has highlighted the 6.6-inch OnePlus 7 screen a lot. And rightly for the screen on the OnePlus 7 Pro fantastic. It shows vibrant colours, and the Fluid OLED technology -- fancy name for 90Hz refresh rate -- makes a good difference. At the same we do believe that the screen could have slightly more brighter. It's not as bright as the screens in the Galaxy S10 or the iPhone XS Max.

7- The OnePlus 7 Pro camera gets a nice 111 point score from DxOMark. And while reviewing the device we figured out why. The main 48-megapixel camera clicks wonderful photos in both good light and low light. The 16-megapixel camera with wide-angle lens is fun to use, albeit in low light it struggles with details. Same is true for the 8-megapixel with 3X optical zoom lens, which is also fun to use in good light but not so much in low light. The front camera gets the job done, but we firmly believe that it could have been better particularly with the way it processes images because to get the smoother skin tones, the camera sacrifices details.

Overall though, the OnePlus 7 Pro triple-camera system is the best we have ever seen in a OnePlus phone and it's right up there with the likes of the camera system in the iPhone XS or the Galaxy S10.

8- The battery life of the OnePlus 7 Pro is fantastic. The 4000 mAh battery lasts one day with ease, and some more if you are careful. The Warp Charging with its 30W charger is very fast, and the stereo speakers sound real nice.

9- What's not to like. The OnePlus 7 Pro is a big phone and some people may find it too big. With weight of around 200 grams, it is also a phone that some people may find slightly heavy. As noted earlier, front camera in the phone could have been better and screen could have been brighter.

10- Despite some little bit here, and some little bit there, that could have been better, we believe that combination of some great hardware -- the superb screen, triple-camera system, Snapdragon 855, beautiful design and UFS 3.0 storage -- paired with clean and capable Oxygen OS software makes OnePlus 7 Pro one of the best, if not the absolute, best phone in the market. The fact that it sells for Rs 48,999 only makes it so much more appealing.
