Bhubaneswar,Oct 26 (PTI) Odisha's COVID-19 tally rose to 2,82,695 on Monday after 1,480 more people tested positive for the infection, while 14 fresh fatalities took the coastal state's toll to 1,259, a health department official said.
Of the 1,480 cases, 858 were reported from various quarantine centres, and the rest detected during contact tracing, he said.
Angul recorded the maximum number of new cases at 141, followed by Mayurbhanj at 113 and Khurda at 110.
Taking to twitter, the health department said, 'Regret to inform the demise of fourteen #COVID19 positive patients while under treatment in hospitals.' Three patients succumbed to the infection in Khurda, two each in Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Nuapada and Sundergarh and one each in Bargarh, Ganjam and Sambalpur, the official said.
Odisha currently has 17,281 active cases, while 2,64,102 people have recovered so far. Fifty-three COVID-19 patients died due to comorbidities.
Ganjam alone has accounted for 227 of the 1,259 deaths, closely followed by Khurda at 215 and Cuttack at 105.
Over 43.54 lakh sample tests have been conducted in the state thus far, including 36,881 on Sunday. PTI AAM RMS RMS
