New Nokia phone set to launch on June 6 in Italy, may come to India on the same day
A few days ago, HMD Global sent out invites for a Nokia launch event in India on June 6. Turns out, the company is simultaneously holding an event in Italy as well. Based on a teaser posted on the company's social media accounts, it seems we are looking at a brand new Nokia phone that has not been announced so far. This suggests that the company may not bring the Nokia 9 PureView and Nokia 1 Plus to India on June 6 as previously speculated.
The teaser posted by HMD teases an upcoming Nokia phone with a single rear camera along with the caption "See things in a new light". Rumours suggest this could be the Nokia 2.2, which means it will an Android Go smartphone. However, given that the company is holding simultaneous launches on the same day, we expect to see a more high-profile smartphone announcement.
HMD's caption further suggests the possibility of a Night Mode feature baked into the upcoming Nokia phone's camera app. This sounds likely considering most smartphone OEMs now offer dedicated long-exposure modes on their phones, while Nokia phones have famously suffered in low-light photography in comparison.
The Nokia 2.2 was reported to have recently passed through certification in India and some other markets, making it a likely candidate for the launch on June 6. However, it is also possible that we could see the global launch of the Nokia X71. The Nokia X71, to recall, was launched in China and is the company's first phone with a punch-hole display. This phone may launch in Italy, India and other markets as the Nokia 6.2.
The Nokia 2.2 is said to come with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. It is also said to measure 145.96x70.56mm. The Nokia X71, on the other hand, is a mid-range phone powered by a Snapdragon 660 chipset. It also sports a 48MP triple camera setup. We will know in a few days what this new Nokia phone will be. On a separate note, there is still no word on when the company plans to launch the Nokia 9 PureView and Nokia 1 Plus in India.
