Nokia 4.2 launched: Key specs, features, India price and release date
The Nokia 4.2 (Review) has been launched in India a couple of months after being announced at MWC 2019. The Nokia 4.2 is an affordable smartphone that slots below the Nokia 5.1 Plus in the hierarchy. It touts a premium glass design along with an attractive waterdrop display and a unique notification light power button and Google Assistant button. The Android One device also runs on stock Android Pie and is powered by a Snapdragon 439 chipset, among other things.
HMD Global's newest Nokia phone will take on some Redmi, Samsung and Realme devices that fall around Rs 10,000. Interestingly, the Nokia 4.2 is priced similar to the Nokia 5.1 Plus, which was launched last year with an all-glass design and Helio P60 chipset. Unlike the Nokia 5.1 Plus which is available online, the Nokia 4.2 will only cater to the offline crowd. Here's what you need to know about the latest Nokia smartphone.

Display: The Nokia 4.2 sports a 5.7-inch HD+ (1520x720) LCD display with a 19:9 aspect ratio and 295ppi.
Processor: It is powered by a 2.0Ghz octa-core Snapdragon 439 chipset paired with Adreno 505 GPU.
RAM: The phone is offered with 3GB of RAM.
Internal storage: It gets 32GB of internal storage. The Nokia 4.2 supports storage expandability up to 400GB.
Rear camera: The dual camera system includes a 13MP f/2.2 primary camera and a 2MP secondary camera.
Front camera: It sports an 8MP selfie camera housed within the waterdrop notch.
Software: The Android One device runs on stock Android 9 Pie.
Battery: The Nokia 4.2 houses a 3,000mAh battery.

-- The Nokia 4.2 is the first phone from the company to come with a dedicated Google Assistant button. By placing an AI button on the side of the device, HMD aims to make it easier than ever for consumers to interact with Assistant. A single press of the button will give you instant access to Assistant. Double pressing the button will bring up a display of relevant information for the day and a long press of the button will allow you to make longer requests.
-- In addition to a Google Assistant button, the Nokia 4.2 also gets a power button with a LED notification light embedded within. The "breathing light" as HMD calls it, will glow when you receive notifications like messages, missed calls and emails.

This means you get thinner bezels and a less distracting notch compared to the wide notches on the Nokia 5.1 Plus and 6.1 Plus last year. Not only does the Nokia 4.2 offer a more immersive display, but it also Widevine L1 certified, which means you will be able to stream content on Netflix and Prime Video in true HD resolution provided the platforms offer that support to the Nokia 4.2 as well.

Nokia 4.2 price in India and availability
The Nokia 4.2 will cost Rs 10,990 in India. There is only one variant of the phone that comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. HMD is launching the Nokia 4.2 in Black and Pink Sand colours in India.
HMD's latest Nokia phone will primarily be sold via offline channels and on Nokia.com/phones. Starting May 7, the Nokia 4.2 will be sold exclusively on the official Nokia website for 7 days. From May 14, the device will be available exclusively through retail outlets and partners like Croma, Reliance, Sangeetha, Poorvika, Big C and MyG. From May 21, the Nokia 4.2 will be available across India at leading retail stores and Nokia.com/phones.
