19 Oct 2018: All-new Nissan Kicks SUV unveiled in India; launches early 2019

Nissan has finally taken wraps off the Indian variant of the Kicks subcompact SUV.

This all-new model, bound to launch in January next year, is significantly different from the international variant of Kicks that is already available in other markets.

Notably, the India-specific Kicks will be locally manufactured at Renault and Nissan's jointly owned plant in Chennai.

Here's our roundup.

Exteriors: Nissan Kicks (India variant): At a glance

Based on the company's B0 platform, the India-specific variant is bigger than the global variants with a wheelbase of 2,673mm and a ground clearance of over 200mm.

Up front, the subcompact SUV sports the signature V-motion grille, large projector headlights with boomerang-shaped DRLs, extended claddings and sharp LED foglamps.

At the rear, there's distinct LED taillamps, curved tailgate, and a large bumper with diffuser.

Interiors: Inside the cabin

Nissan has confirmed that the Indian bound Kicks will have slightly tweaked interiors and a roomier cabin than its international counterpart - thanks to the larger frame.

Moreover, the automaker has said the car will come equipped with a bunch of connectivity features specific to the Indian market.

So, we can expect Android Auto and Apple CarPlay based infotainment system among other tech features.

Engine and power: Under the hood

The India-specific Nissan Kicks will share the petrol and diesel engine available on Nissan's Terrano along with transmission options of 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual, and an AMT unit.

The petrol model will be powered by a 1.6-liter, four-cylinder engine which delivers 103bhp, while the diesel variant will get the 1.5-liter mill that churns out 84bhp or 108bhp depending on the tuning.
