The S-Presso mini SUV is to be officially ‘revealed’ on September 30 and it could be another game-changer for Maruti. In essence, the S-Presso is Maruti's smallest crossover, placed below the Vitara Brezza — a high-riding hatch with SUV-like styling, in other words. It would have rugged design detailing and a unique crossover shape.
The S-Presso would be retailed via the Arena dealerships and would have a high ground clearance, along with an SUV-like driving position. The interiors too would be funky and feature a colourful design theme. The car's cabin would be close to the concept which was first shown at last year’s Auto Expo. It may also get a digital speedometer enclosed inside a circular dash theme, like a Mini Cooper, plus several options of personalisation.
Cool new feature
The other big news is that the S-Presso is expected to have a headline-grabbing 360 degree camera. Yes, a vehicle of this price will be having a feature usually found only on luxury cars. This would make the S-Presso the best equipped Maruti under Rs 10 lakh.
The S-Presso would be available in petrol only, but is likely to get both AMT and manual options. The engine would be BS6 compliant. Aggressive pricing may actually make this cheaper than the Maruti Swift — there is no doubt that Maruti is throwing all its weight behind the S-Presso to make it a massive success.
