Man commits suicide. Video calls wife to show how he was doing it

A 35-year-old man in Madhya Pradesh committed suicide by hanging himself after he had fight with his wife who wanted to spend Janmashtami with her parents. Angered with wife, the man not only killed himself but also made a WhatsApp video call to his wife to show her the act.

The deceased has been identified as Umesh. He was a resident of Jehangirabad in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.

Police said Umesh killed himself on late Thursday night. They said Umesh had a tiff with his wife, Aarti, at her parents' house. Aarti had insisted on visiting her parents for Rakashbandhan but could not go. So she insisted on visiting them for Janmashtami. Umesh took her and their two children to her parents' house in Berasia on Thursday.

However, Umesh did not stay there and following an argument with Aarti, he returned home on the same evening with his seven-year-old son, police said.

Around midnight, Umesh made a WhatsApp video call to Aarti during which he showed her a noose indicating he was committing suicide.

Police said before Aarti could react he hung himself. She called Umesh's younger brother, Raju, who lives in the same neighbourhood but before Raju could break open the door, Umesh was dead.

Raju then rushed Umesh to a hospital where he was declared brought dead.

Police said Umesh was chaat vendor in Roshanpura area. There were tensions in his family due to his dipping income.
