Mahindra XUV500 gets Apple CarPlay feature
Mahindra & Mahindra has equipped XUV500 with Apple CarPlay. The feature will be available in the top-spec W11 variant. Other than the premium SUV, the carmaker's compact SUV XUV300 and the multi-purpose vehicle Marazzo also get Apple CarPlay.
Following the new update, Mahindra XUV500 now offers both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The two are in addition to features like Connected Apps, Emergency Call and Ecosense. Apple CarPlay offers easy access to calls, music and Siri search by connecting the user's iPhone with the infotainment system of the premium SUV.
Launched in India in 2011, Mahindra XUV500 is available in both petrol and diesel engine options. The 2.2-litre, mHawk, 4-cylinder, turbocharged petrol motor delivers 140 hp and 320 Nm of torque. Mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission, this mill comes only with G AT variant. Rest all the trims get a 2.2-litre, mHawk155 diesel engine with 6th generation eVGT (Electronically Controlled Variable Geometry Turbocharger). The diesel motor produces 155 hp and 360 Nm torque and is offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed automatic transmission option.
"At Mahindra, our vehicle offer consumers accessible technologies. The introduction of Apple CarPlay enhances the convenience and connectivity offered by XUV500 and will generate a lot of interest among our potential customers. To delight our customers, we will provide this update to existing owners of the W11 variant as well. They can visit a Mahindra authorised workshop to get their infotainment system upgraded with Apple CarPlay," said Veejay Ram Nakra, Chief of Sales and Marketing - Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra.
Mahindra XUV500 rivals against the likes of Hyundai Creta, Tata Harrier, Jeep Compass and the recently-launched MG Hector. The company had recently introduced the new entry-level XUV500 W3 variant for a price of Rs 12.22 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai).
