Vivo has recently announced the availability of the recent Android 8.0 Oreo update for seven of its smartphone offerings. In a forum posted by the Chinese smartphone maker, the company has confirmed the Android 8.0 Oreo rollout for its smartphones named Vivo X20, Vivo X20 Plus, Vivo XPlay 6, Vivo X9, Vivo X9 Plus, Vivo X9s and Vivo X9s Plus. The forum, however, does not mention when the rollout will take place for the aforementioned smartphones, except for the Vivo X20, which is poised to receive the update beginning April 2018.
The surprising part, however, is the fact that none of these smartphones is available for sale in India. The product offerings of the company in India lists two series - V series and Y series and completely misses out on the X series which will be receiving the Android 8.0 Oreo update. This means, that none of the Vivo smartphone owners in India will be receiving the Android 8.0 Oreo update anytime soon.
With the Android Oreo update, the users of the above-listed smartphones will receive Oreo-based features including picture-in-picture mode, faster boot times, notifications dots, password autofill, new emojis, Wifi assistant and more. Vivo has also confirmed a new version of FunTouch OS to be rolled out to the Vivo smartphones along with the latest Android update.
