LG Q Stylus series launched with Full Vision Display and military grade durability

The three devices will be available on a limited basis starting this month in North America and Asia before a global rollout in the third quarter of the year.

LG Electronics on Wednesday announced its new Q Stylus series smartphones. The series, which consists of three mid-range smartphones including Q Stylus, Q Stylus+, and Q Stylus, comes with a stylus which is similar to the one offered by Samsung with its Galaxy Note series tablets. The three devices will be available on a limited basis starting this month in North America and Asia before a global rollout in the third quarter of the year.

As per a release by the company, the stylus will add functionality to the smartphones beyond the typical experience and its "palm rejection" technology will help the device to differentiate between an intentional touch with a stylus and an accidental touch with the user's palm.

Beyond the stylus, LG's new Q Stylus smartphones will feature the company's Qlens technology along with the advanced DTS:X audio technology that is available in the company's V and G series smartphones. "This phone is another example of LG's promise to deliver a wider selection of devices this year with premium features designed to meet the diverse needs of today's evolving smartphone users," Ha Jeung-uk, senior vice president and head of LG Electronics' Mobile Business Division, said in a statement.

In terms of specifications, the three smartphones feature a 6.2-inch FHD+ FullVision display with 18:9 aspect ratio and 2160x1080 pixel. They are powered by an octa-core processor that will have a clock speed of either 1.5GHz or 1.8GHz and run on Android 8.1.0 Oreo. The three phones are backed by a 3,300mAh battery.

In terms of memory, while Q Stylus+ comes with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage, both Q Stylus and Q Stylus feature 3GB RAM with 32GB internal storage. The internal memory of the three devices can be expanded up to 2TB via a microSD. As far as the camera is concerned, while Q Stylus will sport a 13MP rear camera with PDAF and a 5MP front camera with super wide angle lens, both Q Stylus+ and Q Stylus will come with a 16MP rear camera with PDAF and either an 8MP or a 5MP front camera with super wide angle lens.

The three Q Stylus series smartphones will come with IP68 water and dust resistance technology, a fingerprint scanner on the rear side of the phone which also doubles as the selfie camera shutter button, and support for fast charging technology. Besides this, the three smartphones are MIL-STD 810G compliant, which means that they feature military grade durability.
