Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], May 2 (ANI): Engineering major Larsen & Toubro said on Thursday that its metallurgical and material handling business has been awarded a large order from Ma'aden Gold and Base Metal Company, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Saudi Arabia Mining Company, for setting up Mansourah Massarrah gold project.
Secured against stiff global competition, it is the largest single engineering, procurement and construction order for the metallurgical business in the international market, it said in a statement.
The Indian multinational did not give the value of the contract but describes a large order with the value ranging between Rs 2,500 crore and Rs 5,000 crore.
Ma'aden is a champion of Saudi Arabian mining industry with a global presence. Once commissioned, Mansourah Massarrah gold project will be the largest capacity gold processing plant for Ma'aden. This project will be developed in consortium with Finland-based Outotec and based on the latest pressure oxidation technology.
The scope of the work involves design, engineering, procurement, installation, construction and commissioning of various sub-units of the process plant and associated infrastructure works. Theproject is located in the central Arabian gold region.
Ma'aden Gold and Base Metal Company manages production and sale of gold, copper, silver, and zinc with gold accounting for the biggest business segment. Outotec is a global leader in the gold processing plant technology.
The Mansourah Massarah project, in the central region of Saudi Arabia, is expected to be completed by the end of 2020.
