Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki XL6, Hyundai Grand i10 Nios: 3 important vehicles lined-up for launch next week

The coming week will be an exciting one for all the car lovers in India. More so for those who are planning to buy a new vehicle as they will have more options now. Three major carmakers will launch new products in India next week. While Hyundai will introduce Grand i10 Nios on August 20, Maruti Suzuki will drive in XL6 on August 21. Kia Motors will launch Seltos on August 22.

The three new introductions come at a time when the Indian automotive industry is going through a severe slowdown, marred by declining sales and job cuts. The country's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India reported a sales decline of 33.5 per cent in July 2019. The sales of Hyundai Motor India fell 3.8 per cent during the month. As per the latest data, nearly 2.30 lakh jobs have been cut.

Hyundai Grand i10 Nios

The bookings for the popular hatchback's third-generation have already begun through the official website and Hyundai dealerships for a token amount of Rs 11,000. Hyundai Grand i10 Nios was unveiled in India on August 7. It will have 10 variants (seven in petrol and three in diesel) with six monotone colours (Fiery Red, Polar White, Typhoon Silver, Titan Grey, Aqua Teal and Alpha Blue) and two dualtone (Polar White with Black Roof, Aqua Teal with Black Roof).

Hyundai Grand i10 Nios will get two engine options -- 1.2-litre Kappa petrol and 1.2-litre CRDi diesel. There will be manual as well as automatic transmission options. The third-gen Grand i10 Nios will come with features like cascading grille, projector headlamps with LED DRLs, shark fin antenna, new alloy wheels, low and wide proportioned rear bumper, three-spoke multifunction steering wheel and touchscreen infotainment system.

Maruti Suzuki XL6

The all-new six-seater XL6 will be sold in India through the Nexa dealerships. We are expecting Maruti Suzuki XL6 to be Rs 50,000 - Rs 60,000 more expensive than Ertiga and the starting price might be close to Rs 8 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The premium MPV will be powered by a BSVI compliant 1.5-litre K15B Smart Hybrid petrol engine that will deliver 105 hp and 138 Nm of torque. It will be offered with manual as well as automatic transmission options. Maruti Suzuki XL6 will have features like quad chamber LED headlamps, roofrails, alloy wheels, second-row plush captain seats, SmartPlay Studio with smartphone connectivity and cruise control. The bookings for the upcoming XL6 have already begun at Nexa dealerships, official Nexa website and Nexa app for an initial amount of Rs 11,000.

Kia Seltos

This is probably the most exciting launch of the year. The bookings of Kia Seltos started in India on July 16 and within three weeks 23,311 units were booked. This feature-loaded compact SUV is expected to be priced in India between Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom) and Rs 16 lakh (ex-showroom) and rival the likes of Hyundai Creta, Renault Captur, Nissan Kicks, Tata Harrier, Mahindra XUV500 and MG Hector.

Kia Seltos will be offered in three engine options -- 1.4-litre Turbo GDI petrol, 1.5-litre petrol and 1.5-litre VGT diesel. Apart from a standard 6-speed manual gearbox, there will be automatic transmission options like 7-speed DCT, IVT and 6-speed AT. The mileage numbers will vary between 16 kmpl and 21 kmpl.
