Keeley Hawes' Finding Alice has received a mixed reception following its premiere on ITV tonight (January 17).

The six-part drama tells the darkly comedic story of a grieving woman named Alice (Hawes), who becomes embroiled in a whirlwind of secrets, debt and criminality after the accidental death of her husband Harry.

As we saw in the first episode, Harry died after falling down the stairs in their newly-finished smart house. With her partner of 20 years no longer around, Alice has no idea how to use all of the property's bizarre and impractical functions. She can't even find the fridge!

She has much worse problems on her hands now, though, as Harry's secret past looks set to unravel.

It seems the show's blend of genuinely sad drama and black comedy hasn't exactly hit the right note with everyone, but some viewers are intrigued enough to keep following the mystery.

"So not entirely sure about #FindingAlice quite yet but sticking with it – and one thing's for sure I bloody love @Misskeeleyhawes," tweeted one viewer.

Another unimpressed individual wrote: "Well I stayed with #FindingAlice but I wish I hadn't. Very silly, not a 'dark comedy drama' at all. Just a lot of pretentious tosh."

Check out more of the reactions below.

The impressive cast of Finding Alice also features Coronation Street star Nigel Havers, Absolutely Fabulous legend Joanna Lumley and Versailles's George Webster.

Finding Alice continues next Sunday (January 24) on ITV at 9pm.
