Kate and William’s “Apartment” Is Actually a Huge 4-Story Mansion With a Gym, 9 Staff Rooms, and an Elevator

From House Beautiful

Kate Middleton and Prince William live in an apartment at Kensington Palace, which, frankly, sounds somewhat casual. Like, how fancy can an apartment possibly be, right? HA HA HA HA.

Speaking on True Royalty’s Royal Beat (via the Daily Mail), royal author Christopher Warwick said that Kate and William’s home “has 20 rooms from the basement to the attic” and “it is not a small house.”

He also discouraged people from assuming the place is modest based on the “apartment” title, ’cause, uh, it’s not. “All of these royal residences at Kensington Palace are called apartments, which of course makes people immediately think they are flats like the American term for an apartment. They are not. If you think of Kensington Place, in a way, it is built around three courtyards. If you kind of think of them as being these wonderful red brick terrace houses. Because they are all joined but separate houses.”

Meanwhile, author Ingrid Seward says, “It’s enormous…and it’s like a piece of countryside in London.”

So, in the mood for some details? Turns out Kate and Wills’ “apartment” is four stories and has its own walled garden, five “reception rooms” (whatever those are), nine “staff bedrooms,” an elevator, a gym, luggage rooms, and multiple drawing rooms. So, yeah, you know, just normal stuff you’d find in a regular apartment!!!!!
