Former Punjab minister and Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu on Thursday wrote a letter to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, requesting him for early clearance for his visit to the Kartarpur corridor. In his letter, the cricketer turned politician said that if there’s no response to his third letter than like millions of Sikh pilgrims he will visit the holy place on an eligible visa like millions of Sikh pilgrims.
The letter, Sidhu’s third to the External Affairs Ministry, said, "Despite repeated reminders, you haven’t responded to whether or not the govt has granted me permission to go to Pak for the inauguration".
"The delay and no response is a hindrance to my future course of action. I categorically state that if the government has any inhibitions and say no then, as a law-abiding citizen, I will not go. But if you don’t respond to my third letter , then I will proceed to Pakistan as millions of Sikh devotees go on eligible visa," Sidhu wrote.
Earlier on Wednesday, he was conspicuous with his absence at the Punjab Assembly, which was called to commemorate the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak. Writing a letter to the MEA, the Congress leader said he should be given permission to use the Kartarpur Corridor to attend the opening ceremony on November 9.

He has also been invited by Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan to attend the opening ceremony of the Kartarpur corridor. He was also been informed about the session like other MLAs. This is the second session that he has skipped since resigning from the Punjab cabinet.
Punjab minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, while slamming Sidhu for not attending the session, said, "The credit of opening the Kartarpur Corridor goes to Navjot Singh Sidhu. It was he who brought the news of the opening. The narrative began only after he went to participate in Imran Khan's swearing-in ceremony".
"I am sad. Sidhu should have shown a large heart today. He should have been here and thanked Guru Sahib. He should have been in the Assembly along with the MLAs. He has tried to look different. Nobody will like it." he added.
