Journalist sexually harasses domestic help in Gurugram, booked

A case under relevant sections, including section 354A (sexual harassment), of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered against the journalist. The accused has not been arrested yet.

A journalist with a national daily has been booked for allegedly sexually harassing his domestic help. The incident happened at around 1 am on Thursday (July 4) when the 25-year-old domestic help was sleeping in her room at the journalist's house in DLF Phase 3, Gurugram.

The victim worked as a full-time domestic help with the senior journalist.

The woman filed a complained against her 53-year-old employer on Thursday. Following a complaint, a case under relevant sections, including section 354A (sexual harassment), of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered against the journalist. The accused has not been arrested yet.

Assistant commissioner of police (DLF) Karan Goel told Hindustan Times that the victim, a native of Odisha, said, in her complaint, that she received a phone call from the accused's driver at around 1 am who asked her to open the main door of the house.

It was then the journalist barged into her room naked and started touching her inappropriately. She told the police that she locked herself in a bathroom and managed to escape two hours later. She took refuge at a friend's place in the same society. She approached the police the next day.

The journalist has not been contacted. A probe into the case has been initiated.
