JioGigaFiber effect: BSNL revamps Rs 699 broadband plan to offer 700GB data at 20Mbps speed

BSNL does not want to lag behind in the race of broadband connection which is why it has revamped its Rs 699 plan to compete against Jio.

When BSNL said that it would match Jio tariff-by-tariff, not many of us were sure that it would actually be able to do it. Though the internet speed of the state-owned BSNL may not match up to that of the Jio but the company has always tried matching the offering in its own way. Now when the roll out of JioGigaFiber is nearing, BSNL does not want to lag behind in the race of broadband connection which is why it has revamped its Rs 699 plan to compete against Jio.

BSNL previously offered speeds of up to 10 Mbps and a FUP of 100 GB of data with Rs 699 broadband plan. The company has now revised it to offer an FUP limit of 700GB at a speed of 20Mbps. According to a TelecomTalk report, the plan is available only in Chennai circle. Also, it is an unlimited plan so the data will continue to work at 2Mbps speed even after the FUP limit is reached.

BSNL Rs 699 plan not only offers data but also comes bundled with fixed-line voice calling service. The plan offers unlimited calling service on any network across India. It aims to take on both JioGigaFiber and Airtel unlimited plan. While Jio is yet to roll out the service, Airtel is already offering unlimited voice calling with many of its broadband plans.

BSNL recently also announced a new Rs 491 broadband plan to offer 20GB data per day for a month. The company calls it the "most economical broadband plan in India today" and says it is useful for both individuals as well as small and medium entrepreneurs. So what do you get under the BSNL Rs 491 broadband plan? The plan offers unlimited calls to any network under this plan along with the data. It can be purchased from any customer service centres, franchises or retail outlets of BSNL. Reportedly, BSNL is planning to add unlimited calling benefit to all its FTTH / broadband plans and has also increased its FUP limits by four times in four of its broadband circles. It has revised its Fibro Combo ULD 3999, Fibro Combo ULD 5999, Fibro Combo ULD 9999 and Fibro Combo ULD 16999.
