Chennai Super Kings, CSK

Chennai Super Kings (CSK), who failed to qualify for the playoffs for the first time in IPL history in 2020 will be up against the mighty Delhi Capitals side tonight in Mumbai. Chennai Super Kings will be having the services of Suresh Raina back on the side which will be a huge plus for them and they have brought in new talented recruits.

This will be the 24th meeting between the two sides in which CSK has had the upper hand on most of the occasions with 15 wins while Delhi has won 8 times. Both teams will not be having any home advantage and they will look to pack the bowling attack with a lot of quicks in a Mumbai wicket which has a lot to offer for the pacers.

3 Chennai Super Kings Players Who Can Be Game Changers Against Delhi Capitals:

Faf Du Plessis:

Faf Du Plessis had an excellent run of form in the last season despite the overall downfall of Chennai Super Kings and he was the top scorer for the franchise last season. The South African batsman has retired from test cricket and has shifted his focus to limited-overs cricket with two successive T20 World Cup coming up.

Faf is an excellent player of spin and Dhoni likes to have him at the top of the order to play the anchor role. He can be a match-winner if he stays for a while and can press the accelerator if needed. He provides good starts at the top and he will play a key role in CSK’s success this year. He is an excellent fielder and contributes a lot to the team’s likings.

MS Dhoni:

There is no doubt, MS Dhoni is still a match-winner in any match he plays and he will have to carry the team forward if CSK has to do well this year. He had an excellent IPL in 2019, and the result was evident with the team reaching the finals. He had a poor season last year and his strike rate was too low for a finisher.

But when he is on sing, Dhoni can be brutalizing for any opponent and takes the game until the last over to put the pressure on the bowler. He is one of the most successful captains in the IPL with three trophies under his belt and with the age not helping him, he would like to add another title to his tally before he reaches the end of his career. He will have a big role to play in this IPL for the Chennai Super Kings franchise.

Shardul Thakur:

Shardul Thakur was brilliant in the recent limited-overs series against England and he showed his all-round abilities too. Thakur had a lot of variations up his sleeve and it was effective enough to get rid of the batsmen. He can hit the long ball down the order and he will have a big role to play in this IPL.

Thakur can bowl in the 140kmph mark consistently and he is a very clever bowler. He is a natural wicket-taker and will be the trump card for Chennai Super Kings in this year’s IPL considering that they will play in a lot of flat tracks and will not have the home advantage this time.
