India vs England 2021: England Batsman Should Be Honest With Themselves And Admit Their Batting Was Dreadful – Kevin Pietersen

Former England captain, Kevin Pietersen expects that the English batsmen, or at least some of them, would admit that they batted terribly in their loss at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad during the pink-ball Test.

Indian spinners steamrolled over the visitors batting line-up bowling them out for 112 in the first innings and 81 in their second essay. Axar Patel, who took his maiden five-wicket haul on his debut in Chennai, bagged five-fors in each innings of the day-night Test, Ravichandran Ashwin took 7 in the game, while Washington Sundar and Ishant Sharma plucked a wicket apiece.

With so much talk – and criticism – around the pitch, Kevin Pietersen demands the England batters to take responsibility for their failures – just like senior India players Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma did after the game where both admitted that their side batted substandardly.

“I hope there are some England batters waking up this morning and being honest with themselves at least, by acknowledging their batting was dreadful on that wicket?! I’ve heard Virat & Rohit say theirs was!” tweeted Kevin Pietersen.

Kevin Pietersen To Lead England Legends In The Road Safety World Series 2020-21

The legendary batsman is set to lead the England Legends team in the Road Safety World Series Tournament 2020-21. The tournament which was initiated last year saw only 4 matches being played out and was postponed because of the lockdown inflicted due to the covid-19.

Now the tournament will resume on March 5th at the newly-built Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur. The teams of England Legends and Bangladesh Legends replace the Australia Legends.

Pietersen, who last played for England in the Ashes 2014, will return to the playing field once again. The dynamic right-hander will play alongside the likes of Owais Shah, Monty Panesar, Matthew Hoggard, Jonathan Trott, Ryan Sidebottom. India Legends, led by Sachin Tendulkar, will resume at the top of the table after winning their first two games.

“I can’t wait to get out to India and captain England in the Road Safety World Series starting next week. There are a number of my ex-teammates in the England side – Jonathan Trott, Matthew Hoggard, Monty Panesar, and plenty of others – so it’ll be great to take to the field with them again.

“We’ll also be playing against some of the greats. Sachin Tendulkar, Brian Lara and Brett Lee are all involved in the other squads. It’ll be fun to be back with bat in hand and catching up with some old mates,” the 40-year-old wrote in his column for Betway.
