Indi-Australia, Day 3, Session 1: Equal results for both the teams in Early session; Pujara & Rahane departs; India trail by 208

·1-min read

After a rainy day, yesterday Australia and India started their Day 3 today at Gabba stadium, Brisbane. Earlier in the session Pujara and Rahane showed their Test cricket class; they put 50 runs partnership on board. But a massive wicket for Australia as Hazlewood manages to draw an outside edge with Paine doing the rest.

Pujara’s 94-ball stay at the wickets ends and Mayank Agarwal the new man came in. it’s a do or die match for Mayank Agarwal’s future chances to be in the Indian Test Team. He was given way out from the team after first two games due to poor performances in the same series.

After Pujara departs; skipper Rahane and Agarwal hold the pitch. Agarwal seems comfortable playing at number 5 rather than opening for India. He remains not out at the end of the session with 38 runs including 3 fours and 1 six. Whereas skipper got catch out by Wade bowled by Mitchell Starc. Rahane scored 37 runs in 97 balls; his best score in the last few innings.

At the end of the session, Agarwal and new man Rishabh Pant seems trying to remain not-out and save their wickets. India lose two big wickets but score good enough runs, so it was quite equal session for both the teams.

Brief Scores:

Day 3, Session 1
