The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the ICC World Test Championship prize money for the winner and the runner-up of the tournament. Notably, India and New Zealand are all set to take on each other in the ICC World Test Championship final which is scheduled to take place from June 18- June 22 at the Rose Bowl Stadium in Southampton.
While team India landed in England on 02nd June and started training in the nets after a 3-day quarantine, the New Zealand National Cricket Team was already in England, playing a two-match Test series against the hosts. New Zealand won the Test series 1-0 after winning the second Test of the series.
ICC Announces The ICC World Test Championship Prize Money
The India National Cricket Team, on the other hand, has been involved in an intra-squad practice match. It has been informed by the BCCI that Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul have scored centuries in the practice match while Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma, and Ravindra Jadeja have all scored half-centuries in the game.
Now, the ICC World Test Championship prize money has also been announced by the International Cricket Council. ICC CEO Geoff Allardice has announced that the winner of the World Test Championship will receive US $1.6 million as prize money; $800,000 for the runner-up The prize money will be split between the teams in case of a draw.
Showers Might Play The Spoilsport In The ICC World Test Championship Final
The weather forecast that has been released ahead of the WTC final could prove to be a major spoilsport for cricket lovers all across the globe. Showers are expected on all 5 days of the final Test match. However, a reserve day has been kept by the ICC in wake of the poor weather conditions in England.
If both the teams do not come to a result even after the reserve day’s play, the draw will mean that the ICC World Test Championship trophy will be shared by both India and New Zealand.
