Hyundai Santro spied in top-spec Asta variant
Hyundai has already started sending batches of its latest Santro hatchback to dealer stockyards across the country. The all-new Hyundai Santro will be launched on Tuesday, October 23, 2018. The online bookings for the hatchback are currently ongoing. The Santro has been showcased earlier in both camouflage and non-camo disguise earlier, and now there are a new set of images online of the Santro in the Asta trim.
The top-spec Asta trim gets full-size wheel covers as Hyundai is not providing alloy wheels on the Santro. The grille gets a chrome surround strip, body-colored wing mirrors and door handles, turn indicators on the ORVMs, rear windscreen washer/wiper as standard, a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and MirrorLink. The screen can also be used as a display for the rear camera.
The Hyundai Santro will be available in around 9 trims. Hyundai has also put in a choice of two gearbox options which will be provided with the petrol and possible the CNG variant as well. The petrol is a 4cyl 1.1-litre Epsilon motor churning out 69bhp mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The petrol-manual variant will start from the base DLite variant which starts at Rs 3.7 lakh, Era, Magna, Sportz, and the top-spec Asta trim.
The CNG-powered Santro's 1.1-litre engine churns out 58bhp and will be mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The CNG powered Santro will be, however, available in Magna and Sportz variants only.
Hyundai is also offering a new AMT gearbox which will be seen the first time in the Santro. The Santro AMT trim will also be available on the Magna and Sportz trim only. The top spec Santro will not get the automatic gearbox.
In terms of safety, the Santro will get a single driver side airbag, ABS, rear parking sensors, EBD, and a speed alert system.
