Hyundai Kona: Charging options, range, price, features and other important details about the new electric SUV
Hyundai Kona has finally been launched in India. The electric SUV comes with a price tag of Rs 25.30 lakh (ex-showroom, India) and will be available in the country through the CKD route.
Being India's first fully electric SUV, Hyundai Kona is a welcome addition to the green mobility options in the country. Till now, the EV choices were limited only to Mahindra e20 Plus, Mahindra eVerito and Tata Tigor EV.

Hyundai Kona Exteriors
The electric SUV comes with a very unique front grille having intaglio pattern with an integrated charging port. There are bi-function LED headlamps with LED DRLs. At the rear, one will come across LED tail lamps and skid plate. Other features include 17-inch alloy wheels, roof rails and rear spoiler.
Kona gets monotone colour options like Marina Blue, Phantom Black, Polar White and Typhoon Silver. There is Polar White with Phantom Black roof dual-tone option as well and it comes at a premium of Rs 20,000.
Hyundai Kona Interiors
The electric SUV gets a premium cabin with leather seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel and soft-touch dashboard. There is a multi-function steering wheel with audio & Bluetooth controls. The instrument cluster is fully digital and the floating 17.77 cm touchscreen infotainment is compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Adding to the luxury quotient of Hyundai Kona are features like electric sunroof, front ventilated and heated seats, 10-way power driver seat with lumbar support, electric parking brake with autohold and fully automatic temperature control (FATC).
Hyundai Kona Motor
A permanent-magnet synchronous electric motor is available with Kona. It delivers 136 PS and 395 Nm of peak torque and is offered with a shift-by-wire automatic transmission. Powering the motor is a 39.2 kWh lithium-ion polymer battery with liquid-cooling technology. The SUV gets Eco+, Eco, Comfort and Sport driving modes and is capable of making 0-100 kmph in just 9.7 seconds. The company has provided paddle shifters for adjustable regenerative braking.

Hyundai Kona Warranty
While the price of Kona is not less by any means, the carmaker has taken ample care to make sure that the buyers get a hassle-free ownership experience. The electric SUV has a 3-year/unlimited kms warranty along with 3 years of roadside assistance. There is an 8-year/1.60 lakh kms warranty on the battery. Besides, Hyundai is offering 24x7 emergency roadside assistance and service vehicle to vehicle charging support.
Hyundai Kona Charging Facilities
The electric SUV can be charged up to 80 per cent in 57 minutes through the DC Quick Charger CCS Type 2 (50 kW). Hyundai will provide two chargers with Kona -- a 7.2 kW AC Wall Box Charger and a 2.8 kW Portable Charger. The 7.2 kW AC Wall Box Charger will take around 6 hours and 10 minutes for a full charge, while the 2.8 kW Portable Charger will take 19 hours to completely juice up the battery.
